Blackburn Rovers will face a new Nottingham Forest boss when they meet in pre-season. Oliver Glasner has been confirmed as the new manager of Nottingham Forest, replacing Victor Pereira.

What happened?

Nottingham Forest parted company with Victor Pereira last week, despite him keeping the club in the Premier League. Forest activated a break clause in his contract before June 30. Oliver Glasner has now been confirmed as his replacement at the City Ground, after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of his contract.

Why it matters for Blackburn Rovers

Glasner's first match in charge will be against Notts County on July 18, before facing Rovers in Portugal on July 22 at the Estadio da Nora. Rovers played an internal match over the weekend, but will play their first official pre-season match in front of supporters at Accrington Stanley on Saturday. They then fly out for their week-long warm-weather training camp on Sunday, July 19, with a current league standing of 20th in Championship, 52 pts, 13W-13D-20L from 46 games.

What comes next?

Glasner said on his arrival, 'I’m delighted to join Nottingham Forest as head coach, from my very first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was evident to me that they have a clear vision for this football club.' Rovers will be looking to improve on their recent form of LWDLD, with goals this season of 42 scored and 56 conceded, giving them a -14 goal difference, and 43 points behind leaders Coventry.
