Blackburn Rovers left-back Owen Beck was bitten by Preston North End forward Milutin Osmajic during a Championship match on September 22. Osmajic has been given an eight-match suspension and fined £15,000 for the incident.
What happened?
The incident occurred in the 87th minute of the game after Beck kicked Duane Holmes. Osmajic rose to his feet and grabbed Beck under each arm before appearing to make contact with the back of the defender’s neck with his face.
Why it matters for Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn head coach John Eustace said Osmajic had “taken a big chunk out of his (Beck’s) neck”. Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom claimed he had not seen the incident.
What comes next?
Preston will be without Osmajic for the next eight matches, with his return to availability set to be the match at home to Derby County on November 23. | Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | Suspension length | 8 matches | | Fine | £15,000 | | Return match | Derby County on November 23
