Blackburn Rovers React to Huddersfield Draw

Blackburn Rovers rounded off pre-season with a draw as Jake Garrett's rocket saw their game with Huddersfield Town end 1-1. The result leaves Rovers 43 points behind leaders Coventry in the Championship.

What happened?

Rovers had opportunities to break the deadlock after settling into the game's rhythm. Todd Cantwell was denied by Matty Young inside the area whilst Ilias Bronkhorst produced a brilliant block to prevent Dapo Afolayan from tapping in at the back post. The hosts then started to threaten, with Balazs Toth forced to deny Lynden Gooch and Derensili Fernandes in quick succession.

Why it matters for Blackburn Rovers

Rovers had plenty of the ball in the second half but struggled to carve out many clear-cut chances. They needed a bit of magic to level and got that thanks to Garrett. The ball broke to him in the box and he lashed a rocketed shot into the roof of the net. One that clearly meant a lot to him, having been out of the picture for the last two years.
