Blackburn Rovers' interest in Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison has taken another hit after the 22-year-old reiterated his desire to stay with the Cherries.

The Championship side had been monitoring Jebbison for weeks, but the striker's latest comments suggest a move to Ewood Park is off the table. Jebbison, who spent last season on loan at Preston North End, has been linked with Blackburn since early July, yet no deal has ever looked close.

What happened?

Jebbison travelled to Austria with Bournemouth for their pre-season tour and scored in Friday's 4-1 win over St Pauli. After the match, he told the Daily Echo: “My ambitions are to stay here, play and help the team as much as I can, whether it's off the pitch, on the pitch.”

League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 20th in Championship, 52 pts, 13W-13D-20L from 46 games, recent form LWDLD.

Why it matters for Blackburn Rovers

Tony Mowbray's side needed a striker after scoring just 42 goals last season with a -14 goal difference. Jebbison's form at Preston last term - 11 goals in 38 games - made him an attractive option, but his stance complicates matters.

Bournemouth sit 43 points behind Coventry in the title race, so keeping Jebbison could boost their push for an automatic spot. For Blackburn, the hunt for a reliable forward continues.

What comes next?

Jebbison's focus remains on impressing new boss Marco Rose at Bournemouth. The striker added: “I'm just excited and I'm taking it day by day. I'm not really thinking about the future.”

Blackburn will now have to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements as the transfer window edges closer to its August 31 deadline.
