Blackburn Rovers will not receive additional tickets for their Championship season opener at Wolves after their initial allocation of 2,020 sold out. The club enquired about extra seats but was denied due to the reduced capacity of Molineux’s new away section.
Why was the request rejected?
Wolves confirmed that the smaller away section at Molineux cannot accommodate more Blackburn Rovers fans. The discrepancy with Stoke City’s 2,600 allocation was explained by police and safety advisory group (SAG) requirements, which placed Stoke supporters in the larger Steve Bull Lower Tier.
What does this mean for travelling fans?
Limited spaces remain for Rovers supporters still hoping to attend the August 14 fixture. Meanwhile, tickets for the Burton Albion game are still available, though only a small number of terrace spots are left, with all seated areas sold out. This will be Tony Mowbray’s first official match in charge, following a 2025 campaign where Blackburn Rovers finished 20th in the Championship with 52 points (13W-13D-20L), scoring 42 goals and conceding 56.
Are there alternatives for supporters?
Fans unable to secure tickets for Wolves may look to the Burton Albion fixture, where limited terrace tickets remain. The club’s recent form (LWDLD) and last season’s struggles-finishing 43 points behind leaders Coventry-add urgency to a strong start under Mowbray.
