Blackburn Rovers have suffered a significant injury blow ahead of the new season, with midfielder Moussa Baradji ruled out for four weeks due to a hamstring injury. The Frenchman, 25, made the switch to Ewood Park 12 months ago on loan from Yverdon-Sport and his switch to Lancashire has since been made permanent on a long-term contract running until June 2029. He made 33 appearances in all competitions last term and chipped in with two goals. In this latest update regarding his condition, the Lancashire Telegraph report he is sidelined at the moment which is a blow for head coach Tony Mowbray. He isn't the only one in the treatment room either, with Scott Wharton, Matty Litherland, Dion De Neve, Mathias Jorgensen, Augustus Kargbo and Sidnei Tavares also unavailable right now. Blackburn Rovers begin with a Carabao Cup first round trip to face League One side Burton Albion this weekend. They then lock horns with Wolves at home next Friday. Moussa Baradji's injury is a significant blow for Blackburn Rovers, who will have to make do without the Frenchman for the opening four weeks of the new 2026/2027 season. The team will be aiming to compete higher up the Championship table after narrowly avoiding relegation in the last campaign. They have a few different players to call upon in the middle of the park in Baradji's absence. Rovers have the likes of Axel Henriksen, Adam Forshaw and Kristi Montgomery, among others, to pick from. They also have youngster James Edmondson, who may be ready for the step up to the first-team now after an impressive loan spell away at Macclesfield in the National League North. Mowbray will want more senior players like Baradji and Tavares back available as soon as possible though. It took Baradji a while initially to get to grips with life in England last year. However, when fully fit, he is a useful operator in his position. Prior to his switch to Blackburn Rovers, he was a key player for Yverdon-Sport and caught the eye in Switzerland. He has also played in Europe in the past for Team Altamura and Legnago Salus. Moussa Baradji's stats for Blackburn Rovers in all competitions last season are impressive, with 33 appearances and two goals to his name.
